Seriously Creative Halloween Costumes You Haven’t Seen!

medusacover

Halloween!!!! Yes, Halloween deserves that many exclamation points because as some of you may know it is my ALL TIME favorite holiday.  I have no idea why it wouldn’t be someone else’s. You get to be anything or anyone you want and fully express your creativity! How can you not revel in that?  By the way, that crazy Medusa looking character above is actually me. I created that whole look DIY.  Leave a comment on the blog below if you’d like some tips on what to buy and how to assemble it!  Although I don’t have the time to DIY a costume for myself every year, when I do have time, I go all out! Therefore, I thought it might be fun to gather up a few eccentric costumes that you can pull together yourself, directly from items on Amazon.

Some of them are costume ideas pulled from other various sites, such as one of my favorites called Coolest Homemade Costumes, but I’ve tried to list all the supplies you might need to gather in order to pull it off. Simply click on the highlighted list and it’ll take you straight to Amazon to purchase. Just make sure it’s the right size if it’s clothing. Some are for couples/groups, some for singles, but most of all, they are unique and a costume you probably haven’t seen yet!

LOST PUPPY

This one will have everyone in stitches!  Although I’m not normally a fan of store bought costumes, (as you’ll see by checking out the other costumes below) sometimes you have to make due with limited time. Plus, it’s pretty dang funny.  You can buy it HERE.

Giraffe

This girl just rocked my world with her DIY creative Halloween costume masterpiece!  The upside:  you’ll be sure to win a few Halloween contests. The downside:  You might not be able to walk around very easily, and I’m not sure if you could dance very well.  To find the entire set of her DIY instructions to create this awesome giraffe click HERE.

YOU WILL NEED
contractor stilts
crutches
brown grease paint
giraffe tail and ear set
FRENCH KISS

I’ve seen this costume a couple of times now and am completely enamored with it. It’s a great play on words, and you can rock out with a lot of French sass. For extra pizzazz make sure and go buy yourself a loaf of bread, pronounce everything with flair, and stick your tongue out on occasion.

YOU WILL NEED
FRENCH BARET
RED SCARF
wine glass
black grease paint
white grease paint

Oh the Places You’ll Go!

As soon as I saw this immediately regretted I didn’t pick it as my Halloween costume. I could still decide on it! It’s not too late!  Well, no actually it is. My costume this year is taking an entire month to put together. Sigh.. it’s a labor of love.

YOU WILL NEED
1 floor length petticoat
7 PACKS OF PAPER PLATES
WOMENS BLUE SHIRT
WOMENS MAGENTA SHIRT
GREEN SHRUG
FACE PAINT
PINK COLOR HAIRSPRAY

This has to be one of the most hilarious I’ve seen that you can easily throw together, especially if you’re a real redneck.

YOU WILL NEED
white baseball cap
red garbage can lid
men’s white long sleeve shirt
men’s short sleeve blue shirt

WILLY WOOLY

Being a crazy Halloween enthusiast, I’ve seen some remarkably creative costumes in my day. This one is at the top of the list! Remember this game? How much fun are interactive costumes?!  This one is going to be a little more difficult to gather items online, but I’ll do my best!

YOU WILL NEED
red clown nose
black pom poms
black felt to create hair pieces
magnets
metal dowel

SHRUNKEN HEAD

I’d love to see a female variation on this for Halloween! Who is up for the challenge?

YOU WILL NEED
Sculpy polymer clay
Black afro wig
black face paint

Effie Trinket

Ok, here’s a second secret I’ll let you in on. I’m also a HUGE Hunger Games nerd so this list wouldn’t be complete without an Effie!  This girl did such amazing job of putting together a last minute butterfly dress!  Replicating her design won’t be easy because she got most of the items from a thrift shop, but there are some items that come close. I thought it was worthy of including but, um, I may be a bit biased!

YOU WILL NEED
sleeveless orange dress
blonde wig
monarch butterflies
effie trinket makeup kit

PAINT (OR COLOR) BY NUMBER

I was actually color-by-number one year for Halloween, but this girl really showed me up, especially because all of that was done with SHARPIE! Are you kidding me?  Artistic talent goes a long way on this one. The best part is, you get to bring around paints for people to color on you!  In my case I actually ended up using markers.  Obviously, there are quite a few variations you could do on this.

YOU WILL NEED
black grease paint
white grease paint
black lipstick
white bodysuit
black/white wig

OREGON TRAIL VICTIM

I wouldn’t be a true Oregon native if I didn’t include this one!  If you’re awesome enough, you remember playing this Oregon Trail game like mad back in the day. If not, then I suggest you figure out what it is. This one could be done a variety of ways as well, but here are my cheaper suggestions.

YOU WILL NEED
metal coat hangers
wire cutters
black duct tape
red bandana
brown vest
1 white tablecloth or a white sheet

Have you picked out your Halloween costume for this year? If so, what are you going to be? What is the best costume you’ve ever had or seen?  Let’s talk about it!

Great costumes! Halloween is also my favorite. My best costume was a pirate holding a treasure chest with a mermaid on top. No sewing – just glue gun. Won first prize in 2 different contests. (I will probably never be able to top that one!) You can check it out here if you like:

Okay you go me I hadn’t seen any of these besides the Effie one. My favorite “Missing Dog” creepest The shrunken head (that guy alway creeped me out in Beetle Juice) I haven’t decided what I’ll be yet. I normally don’t know until the day of. Last year I was BatGirl! Maybe this year I’ll be a villain 🙂 Thanks for sharing this awesome unique list. Will be sharing.
