There will be very few times in your life that are so monumentally surreal and life changing, you can look back and say, I am fundamentally a different person because of this. This is what Free People World did to me.
I just returned from an absolutely PHENOMENAL and LIFE CHANGING retreat to Puerto Rico with a newly formed experience called Free People World. I’ve been wanting to go on a retreat for an extremely long time, but never did quite find the right one which I felt the urge to attend. For some reason, I had a strong calling to attend this and I learned a long time ago to never resist my instinct.
There are no accidents in the universe folks. NONE! I actually won the trip after writing a compelling letter to the creators, Kristy Sinsara and Ashtyn Ryan, as to WHY I belonged on this trip. Apparently, I can be quite the convincing dragon when I want to be. By the way, Kristy Sinsara is also an absolutely brilliant writer, author, PR rep, social media manager and inspirational business leader. You would have to kick yourself for not following her at kristysinsara.org!
Free People World is a unique retreat in every sense of the word. They combine yoga, meditation, life coaching workshops, a whole lot of fun, and even some social media business tactics that are taught RIGHT THERE on location. Ours was in the middle of the Caribbean on Gilligan’s Island! (as pictured above)
Every retreat has a different type of focus, and some that are coming up are deemed specific to entrepreneurs, and others to couples. Have you ever heard of such diverse retreats? Me neither. That is why I had to share my thoughts on how moved I am by this experience.
First things first. I need to be real with you on why I felt it was my time to attend Free People World. Here comes that vulnerability feeling, and this is where I usually like to run and hide. Writing makes opening up far easier for me. Hey, you can’t see me crying with my face behind the laptop screen! HA!
As far as I have come in my life, and as much work I have done on personal development, I realized I am nowhere near where I want to be in my business or in my life. I was coasting at about a level 6 when I knew I COULD be excelling at a level 10!
I needed to shake things up a bit and decipher why I felt like I was so busy every day, yet felt like I was moving nowhere. Pssstt… want to know why? It is because I was still scared to do the BIG things that actually cause motion. That small hanging fruit is so easy to grab. Am I right!?
I needed to deal with many emotions I have packed away for years. Just when I thought I was done unpacking all that baggage, I went to this retreat and was thrown for a loop. Where were all of these feelings hiding?!
The passing of my father and other severed relationships is something that I’ve known I needed to deal with on a larger scale. It was the time. So I took the leap, and jumped! MY OH MY, the rewards have been plentiful. Free People World has stirred up something in my soul and is now a permanent fixture in my life. It is more than a business or retreat. It is a MOVEMENT.
Let me remind you, however, although Free People World is an insanely good time, you must do the inside work in order to reap any real rewards. That means, you should attend the sessions and talk about your ailments, bring all of you to the yoga and meditations sessions, and even be present for the FUN aspect. For some people, this is actually the hardest aspect of life. This group of 28 people who came together, BROUGHT IT TO THE TABLE and we could not have better synergy. As I put it one day:
I see you. I see who you really are. The broken, the misunderstood, the misfits, the rebels. I wouldn’t take you any other way.
I’ve always felt like a black sheep to a lot of people. I guess maybe I was just missin my flock.
I cried more times than I can count, I lost myself in the essence of the majestic bioluminescent bay which felt like swimming in diamonds, and I laughed SO DAMN HARD I could not contain myself. Thanks to life coach Kris Prochaska, I learned about my personal human design and strategies I can take to overcome any obstacles I face because of that human design. Thanks to life coach Julia Junkin, I have a completely new outlook on life! Thanks to the yoga teachings by the “unyogi” Stephanie Jean Lewis I am inspired and now child’s pose in extraordinarily strange places. HAHAHA!
I came home with tools that I will take into my future, and I have ultimately been reborn. There were people at this retreat who took Tony Robbins courses and felt that this was EVEN BETTER!
“The caterpillars new cells are called ‘imaginal cells.’ They resonate at a different frequency. They are so totally different from the caterpillar cells that his immune system thinks they are enemies…and gobbles them up–Chomp! Gulp! But these new imaginal cells continue to appear. More and more of them! Pretty soon, the caterpillar’s immune system cannot destroy them fast enough. More and more of the imaginal cells survive. And then an amazing thing happens! The little tiny lonely imaginal cells start to clump together, into friendly little groups. They all resonate together at the same frequency, passing information from one to another. Then, after awhile, another amazing thing happens! The clumps of imaginal cells start to cluster together!.., A long string of clumping and clustering imaginal cell, all resonating at the same frequency, all passing information from one to another there inside the chrysalis.”
“A wave of Good News travels throughout the system– Lurches and heaves…but not yet a butterfly.”
“Then at some point, the entire long string of imaginal cells suddenly realizes all together that it is Something Different from the caterpillar. Something New! Something Wonderfull!….and in that realization is the shout of the birth of the butterfly!”
Happy Birthday Butterfly!!!
“Since the butterfly now “knows” that it is a butterfly, the little tiny imaginal cells no longer have to do all those things individual cells must do. Now they are part of a multi-celled organism– A FAMILY who can share the work.”
“Each new butterfly cell can take on a different job.—-There is something for everyone to do. And everyone is important. And each cell begins to do just that very thing it is most drawn to do. And every other cell encourages it to do just that.”
“A great way to organize a butterfly!”
